A new-look market
Clare Showgrounds Market is getting a revamp and is being re-launched on Gourmet Saturday, May 14. You’ll see a number of stalls there including Joyce and her Pelargoniums. Clare’s Showgrounds Market has been held monthly for about 10years and it’s about to have a revamp.
A new sub-committee of the Clare Agricultural & Horticultural Society, which includes Cheryl Koglin, Phil Pese, Sharalyn Bond and Lois Lewis, hopeto bring some new and exciting stall holders to its monthly market.
“We are hoping to revamp it to make it more appealing for people to come along,” Cheryl said.
The market has seen many different stall holders come and go throughout the years and the committee hopes to attract some new producers and sellers/dealers to the monthly market.
They plan to host a re-launch of the Clare Showgrounds Market on Saturday, May 14, in line with Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend.
Cheryl said, as always, the fruit and vegetable man would be on site for you to purchase all the best in fresh produce.
Along with Joyce and her Pelargoniums (geraniums), they’re also hoping a busker will perform on the day for them.
It’s a market that attracts many people from the Clare Valley and the new committee hope to further its popularity and include new stall holders each month.
With the relaunch being held on Gourmet Saturday there’s bound to be plenty happening and many people stopping in to see what’s for sale.
Held on the second Saturday of each month, apart from Clare Show day, it’s onfrom 8.30am-1.30pm.
It is held in the Main Pavilion and, when the weather permits, often spills outside.
“We are looking at keeping all the same holders, but adding new things in to give it more life.”
By adding the additional stalls and new exhibitors, they hope to improve the atmosphere and encourage even more people to attend.
All monies raised at the Clare Showgrounds Market goes straight back into the show society and assists with maintaining the grounds.
