The new Keilira Fox Baiting Group was formed last month with more than 30,000ha of land already baited.
Upper SE landholders and Natural Resources SE staff are successfully tackling fox numbers in the region in a collaborative approach.
The Keilira Fox Baiting Groupwas formed at abreakfast and information session at Keiliralast monthrun by Natural Resources SE. Forty-onelandholders and four authorised officers met tonetwork and shareadvice and information on fox control. Participants also discussed the impact of foxes on primary production and the environment, and need for acollaborative baiting approach.
Upper SE authorised officer Roger Davidson praised the group’s formation and said the group’sbaiting had already covered 30,000ha. He said thesuccess could be attributed to collaboration between landholders.
“We hope it will encourage other landholders to work together to reduce fox numbers across the region, for the benefit of primary production and for broader environmental outcomes,” he said.
The Keilira Fox Baiting Group covers the Hundreds of Minnecrow, Murrabinna, Landseer, Duffield, Marcollat, Peacockand adjoining properties outside the Kingston district.
