The Movement Fitness and Wellbeing crossfit champion Callum Foster is heading to NSW to compete in an international competition.DUNSBOROUGH resident Callum Foster is heading to Wollongong in NSW to compete in an international crossfitcompetition.
Foster took up the sport 18 months ago and said he had become addicted to the high intensity workout which has taken the world by storm.
Crossfit is exercise based on movement involvinggymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more with people aiming to move the largest loads and longest distances in the shortest amount of time.
It is an extreme sport with people pushing themselves to the limit of their ability and testing themselves during a high intensity workout.
Foster will compete in the team event andsaid he just missed out on the individual event with the top 30 competitors from Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific.
Disappointed he had come 40thout of 15,000 entries Foster said he had to remind himself it was the first year he had entered the competition.
“Ourteam did really well we got sixth overall and head over to Wollongongon Wednesday,” he said.
“The top five individuals and top three teams from the regionalthen go to California to compete in the World Games.”
Foster said the sport was one of the hardest things he haddone and after a workout could be on the floor for 15 minutes unable to move.
“We have done workouts which go for two hours nonstop and there have been days where I put myself on a rowing machine and stood up and fell over or fell asleep because Iphysically could not move,” he said.
“I have been carried over the line in a few events but that is not just me that is everybody which is why it is so competitive because people just keep pushing themselves to the extreme in the sport.”
Despite the high intensityFoster said the sport promotes a healthy lifestyle and if it had a positive impact on people’slivesthat was awesome.
Foster has started his own gym in Dunsborough and if you are keen to check out crossfit head down to The Movement Fitness and Wellbeing.
