For more than 30 years, renowned songwriter and musician Don Walker has achieved just that.
His lyrics have resonated with generations through solo albums and as a member of the iconic rock band Cold Chisel, supergroup Tex, Don and Charlie and the jazz-infused Catfish.
While Don’s deeply intelligent lyrics have led to more success than most experience in their careers, he shows no signs of slowing down
Don is set to embark on a six-date East Coast tour of Australia with band The Suave F**ks in tow.
He will perform in the Southern Highlands “for the first time in a long time”, with an anticipated show at Bowral Bowling Club.
In his travels, Don will experience diverse areas of Australia, just as he has mapped them eloquently through song.
He writes from experience, capturing life in quiet regional towns with as much ease as the hustle and bustle of Kings Cross.
“Mostly I live in the city but somehow where you grow up has a powerful effect on how you view things,” Don said.
“There’s a mysterious thing that happens when a song comes to life.”
Just like his lyrics, Don’s tour with The Suave F**ks will be a crowd pleaser.
“I enjoy their company and what they do on stage – they’ve been playing together for the best part of eight years,” he said.
“I hope the audience walks away thinking ‘wow, I was really taken somewhere else’.”
Don Walker and The Suave F**ks will perform on Saturday, May 28 from 6pm at Bowral Bowling Club.
Tickets can be purchased via Moshtix.
Bowral Bowling Club is located at 40 Shepherd Street, Bowral.
