Last weekend saw the last round of sectional play for the Railway mens Pennants teams with some great results.
The undefeated No 6s had a big win over Narromine at home, claiming three rinks to nil. Steve Frame’s team won 24 – 20, Shane Sharman’s team won 24 – 13, and Lee Hetherington’s team won 26 – 14.
This side now progress to the Zone playoffs at Cowra with the dates and draw being finalised this weekend.
The results of the meeting will be posted on the notice board on Saturday afternoon.
The first No 7s side made the short trip to play against the Parkes Bowling and Sports Club.
The match was a winner take all game as both teams were so close on the top of the ladder.
Railway had to win the masterboard to progress to the Zone playoffs.
The game seesawed throughout and it was anyone’s right up to the last end.
Railway just hung on to take the match by four shots on the masterboard.
Kevin Hynds’ team lost 22 – 16, Mick Furney’s team won 20 – 18 and Brian Hampton’s team won 26 – 18.
Railway progress into the Zone finals at Dubbo Railway on May 28 and 29.
The draw for this will be done this Saturday.
Last, but not least, were the second No 7s who had a great season.
Even though they did not win their section, they came close and were valiant in defeat.
This side was a credit to the club as the Railway only put the extra team in to help make up even numbers in the section.
They played their last game against Gooloogong who were out to avenge their loss to Railway last time.
Rod Ramsay’s team lost 26 – 11, Kevin Wales’ team lost 28 – 14 and Bernie Coleman’s team had a 16-all draw.
Teams and transport arrangements for Zone playoffs will be posted on the notice board next week.
As Singles and Pairs Championship matches come to a close, bowlers are reminded to organise to play their games as soon as possible.
The Minor Singles final sees Matt Weekes up against Col Hornery.
The Major Singles semi-final has Luke Ramsay against Al Cameron with the winner to play Lee Hetherington in the final.
In the second round of Minor Pairs, Matt Weekes and Graham Cole play Terry Clothier and Pav Cross, Brett Weekes and Doug Miller play Chris McNaughton and Peter Bristol.
A third round Major Pairs match sees Tony Latter and Mick Parks against Doug Miller and Luke Ramsay.
