Saints tested

Trentham Football Netball Club travelled to Lexton last week. The Saints encountered all sorts of weather conditions.

Trentham’s juniors started of the day in cold, wet, windy conditions. The weather fined up for the remainder of the day.The Under 11.5 footballers were short of players but battled hard with Ben Ekstedt, Tyson Scoble and Cori Chaplin-Bennett amongst the best.

The Saint’s Under 14.5s came away winners in a great game with Corey Pertzel kicking four goals and was in the best alongside Stefan Lendrec and Darcy Matricardi.

Trentham’s Under 17.5s faced the challenge of Carisbrook who have been the bench mark of the competition for the last few years. The boys put in a strong performance to win by 20 points.

Harrison Knight kicked two goals and Joel Dovaston, Ben Whitehouse and Mason Daly all played well.

The Reserves battled all day but suffered a loss. Jacob Pearce returned from injury to be among the best and finished with two goals.

The Seniors had a close contest against good opposition. It was great to see Lewis Bruton and James Gray back in the Seniors. Both players were named in the best alongside captain Chris Whelan.

The netballers had some hard contested games for the day.

Ruby Neath and Coco Jonnson were the best for Trentham’s Under 13s. The Saints had a narrow two goal loss in the Under 15s. Tamsyn Dicker and Lacie Peucker had big games in defense.

Under 17s lost by only onee goal with dominant performances from Tahlia Bickerdyke and Phoebe Higgins. C grade were down six goals in the first quarter but managed to match their opposition for the remainder of the game, going down by the first quarter margin.

A and B grade both had convincing wins, with dominance in defence from Kelly Matheson-Miller and Ellen Barnard in B Grade and Peggy Shellard and Kristy Parks in A Grade.

In the next few weeks some of juniors will represent Trentham in the MCDFL Interleague matches. Congratulations to you all.

Sam Evans, Stefan Lendrec, Darcy Matricardi, Mitch Peeler and Mitch Kirley will represent the Under 14s. Dylan Beecham, Eli Kinnell, Riley Matricardi and Sean Willes will represent the Under 16s.

In netball, Keeley Meade-Sweet will represent the Under 13s, Tamsyn Dicker and Elly Rose will represent the Under 15s, and Hayley Bourke will represent the Under 17s.

Trentham takes on Talbot at home in the last of the twilight matches. Another big crowd will be in attendance with plenty of exciting action. Go Saints.
